Introduction

Sanju Samson, The daring wicket-keeper batsman of India is renowned for his delicate yet potent strokeplay. For both the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and Kerala in local cricket, he serves as captain. He debuted in India in 2015 following a successful youth career. His astounding potential was demonstrated when he recently set a record in the ODI double century in December 2023.

Early life

Sanju Samson, a native of Kerala, moved with his family to Delhi in 1994 after starting his cricket career there. In pursuit of his cricketing goals, he trained under trainers in Delhi and Kerala, earning a degree in English literature in the process.

Youth and domestic career

Youth career

Sanju Samson excelled in junior cricket. He amassed runs like a magician extracting rabbits from a hat while captaining Kerala sides. Because of his skill, he was even appointed vice captain of India's U-19 team, where he was still their leading scorer.

Early domestic career

Sanju Samson, a youthful prodigy, became the youngest Ranji player from Kerala when he hammered a double century in domestic cricket at the age of 14. He persisted in scoring runs and displaying his skill in elite games.

Inconsistent seasons

Twenty-year-old skipper Sanju Samson, the youngest captain in state history, captained Kerala in the Ranji Trophy. His first spell as captain was marred by inconsistency, even though he had early success.

Return to form

The domestic career of Sanju Samson has proven unpredictable. His early promise as the youngest captain of Kerala waned due to inconsistent play. Later, he became a reliable run scorer, shattering records with a double century and helping Kerala win the Ranji Trophy.

International career

Maiden callup and debut

Despite not playing a single game, Sanju made an early impression and was picked for India in 2014. In 2015, he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe.

Comeback and a stop-start career

Samson was called up early in 2014 and showed promise, but he had to wait four years to make his India debut in 2015. Even though he had opportunities in 2019–2021, his inconsistent play kept him off the starting lineup.

Among the runs

With steady performances, he made his T20 debut for India against Sri Lanka in 2022. Making his first half-century, he was brilliant in the T20I series against Ireland. He was quite impressive in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies, which helped India win. In the series that followed, particularly against Zimbabwe and Ireland, he demonstrated his ability even though he was unable to play in the T20 World Cup. He made history in the ODI series against South Africa in 2023 when he struck the game-winning century.

IPL career

Sanju Samson, an IPL rookie who was a teenage prodigy, made an impression with his batting. He rejoined the Rajasthan Royals after playing for the Delhi Capitals, where he rose to the position of captain and top run scorer.

Playing style

Talented batsman Sanju Samson is renowned for his tremendous hitting and beautiful swings. Despite receiving accolades for his abilities, he has faced difficulties in his career with consistency and shot choice.
