Introduction

Varshangalkku Shesham, The new 2024 Malayalam film is directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. In this humorous drama set during the height of South Indian cinema's golden age (1970s–1980s), two friends pursue their dreams of becoming filmmakers. Nivin Pauly and Kalyani Priyadarshan join the fun, with Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan leading the cast. The video, which was just published on April 11th, 2024, depicts the wild voyage of their journey.

Premise

Driven by aspirations of becoming famous actors, Venu and Murali, two friends, leave their village of Kerala behind to explore the exciting city of Kodambakkam, Madras (now Chennai). They intend to leave their mark in this metropolis that brimmed with the magic of South Indian cinema in the 1970s and 1980s.

Inspiration and Story

Vineeth Sreenivasan's film Varshangalkku Shesham, which translates to "Years Later," was influenced by his father's experiences in the movie business. The plot, which takes place in the bustling city of Madras (now Chennai), the epicenter of South Indian cinema at the time, centers on two friends who are chasing their ambitions of becoming famous in the 1970s and 1980s. The film chronicles the ups and downs of these budding filmmakers as well as the evolution of the industry throughout this time.

Casting and Filming

Filming started in October 2023, using restored sets that showed the Madras film studios of the past. The actual filming, which concluded in December 2023, took place in over 50 sites throughout Kerala and Tamil Nadu, whereas the tale is set in Chennai.

Post-Production

Early in 2024, post-production work, which included dubbing and editing, was finished. Amrit Ramnath's soundtrack for the movie enhances the whole experience. Varshangalkku Shesham aims to transport viewers back to the heyday of South Indian film with a nostalgic and endearing voyage.

Cinematographer Vineeth Sreenivasan's father's experiences served as inspiration for the movie Varshangalkku Shesham ("Years Later").
