India Extends Home Dominance, Defeats England in Ranchi

India continued their remarkable run of form at home, securing a convincing five-wicket victory over England in the fourth Test at Ranchi. This win not only sealed the series for them with an unassailable 3-1 lead but also extended their exceptional streak of 17 consecutive Test series wins on home soil, a record stretching back to 2012.

The victory was hard-fought, played on a challenging pitch that offered assistance to both spinners and seamers. England's aggressive "Bazball" approach, characterized by attacking batting, proved insufficient as India's spin attack, led by the impressive duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, posed significant threats.

Despite missing key players like Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami, India showcased their strong bench strength. Youngsters like wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, batter Sarfaraz Khan, and seamer Akash Deep impressed on debut, contributing significantly to the team's success. Jurel, named Player of the Match, played a crucial role with a fighting 90 in the first innings, followed by a crucial partnership with Shubman Gill in the second that secured the win.

While England captain Ben Stokes expressed satisfaction with his team's commitment and believes the series showcased promising talent, the loss marks their first under the new leadership of Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum. Despite showing fight and competitiveness throughout the series, they couldn't overcome India's home advantage and the brilliance of their young guns.

The final Test of the series will be played in Dharamsala on March 7th. With India already assured of the series victory, the focus will shift to individual performances and further opportunities for young players to shine. This match also offers an opportunity for England to end the series on a high note and learn valuable lessons from their experiences in India.
