Jan. 19, Mumbai (Reuters) - The Bombay Stock Exchange announced in a circular on Friday that the Indian stock market will hold a full trading session on Saturday, January 20.
The stock, securities, lending and borrowing (SLB), and equity derivatives divisions will hold trading within regular business hours, according to the exchange.
Monday's trading in the money, debt, and equity markets is closed because Maharashtra state is celebrating a public holiday.
In honor of the opening of the Ram Temple on Monday, the central government announced a half-day closure that would last until 2:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time.
Earlier on Saturday, the stock market was scheduled to trade in two special sessions as the exchanges tried to test a trading failsafe.
The S&P BSE Sensex, opens new tab, closed 0.70% higher at 71,683.23, while the blue-chip Nifty 50 opens new tab index settled 0.75% higher at 21,622.40 on Friday.
