iOS 18 Announced at WWDC, What You Need to Know

Jun 11 Tech Standard

Rumours about iOS 18 swirled online ever since Apple announced WWDC dates. Many reports predicted an iPhone OS announcement, and they were right. Apple launched iOS 18 for iPhones on day 1 of WWDC (June 10th). But hold your horses, iPhone users! You'll have to wait a few months to experience it. Additionally, not all iPhones will be compatible with iOS 18.

iOS 18 Release Date and Compatible Devices

A developer beta of iOS 18 was released right after the WWDC announcement, giving developers early access to the latest features. A more stable public beta is expected soon. For everyone else, the official iOS 18 rollout is set for September 2024, alongside the launch of the iPhone 16 lineup.

As for compatible devices, iOS 18's new AI features, especially the advanced Siri, are limited to newer devices with the A17 Pro chip or later. This includes the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, along with the upcoming iPhone 16 series. However, other improvements and upgrades will be available on all iOS 18-compatible devices.
