LIMITS TO DISSENT IN A DEMOCRACY

Dissent means “a strong difference of opinion on a particular subject, especially about an official suggestion or plan or a popular belief”. This concept plays an essential role in preventing the concentration of power and fostering a culture of open dialogue and debate, which are vital for the health and evolution of a democracy. It is vital to understand that lack of agreement is a personality trait found in all humans.
