National security is the ability of a country’s government to protect its citizens, economy, and other institutions. It refers to the security of a nation state, including its citizens, economy, and institutions, and is regarded as a duty of government.

1.Enable long term planning- Prevents short-term, ad decisions and ensure strategic consistency.
2.New challenges like Cyberterrorism- Indian economy is rising and facing attacks on critical infrastructures to have the ability to stall economic engine.
3.Consistency and political consensus- The policy and approach keeps on changing with a change in the government.

IDEAS OF NATIONAL SECURITY
1.Economic security- It involves not only protecting the capacity of the economy to provide for the people but also the degree to which the government and the people are free.
2.Cybersecurity- It refers to protection of government's and the people's computer and data processing infrastructure.
3.Energy and natural resources security- It is most often defined as the degree to which a nation or people have access to such energy resources as oil, gas etc.
